Community Outreach
Konjum Salangai - Enticing Anklets
We performed a tribute to the devadasis (traditional but not underrepresented dancers) through this homage to raise funds for the TamilNadu Foundation's fundraiser. The $75000 that was raised was used to rebuild school and other facilities for Anbalayam - an orphanage for children with disabilities
Viduvippu - Release, Reach, Rejoice
We raised funds for wateraid - an international organization that works on water, sanitation, and hygiene projects especially in the developing world.
Kuravanji - The Ballad of the Gypsy
We performed the kuravanji based on 18th century Tamil classical poetry where the protagonist belonged to a lower caste community. Funds were raised for rebuilding a government school for the visually challenged children in TamilNadu, India. We raised over $75000 through this show. The performance included 65+ cast members with music especially composed for this Broadway style musical.
Konjum Salangai 3.0 - Enticing Anklets
A team of over 50 dancers helped raise over $1.8Million to fund the governments schools for the disabled in TamilNadu, India. This performance was the main entertainment event for the TamilNadu Foundation Convention held in Mesquite, TX in 2022.
Kavin Kaattil - In the Beautiful Forest
Bringing to life an extraordinary poem from the akananuru written around the 2nd century, kavin kaattil involved a cast of 16 contemporary dancers from Indiana University who worked an entire semester on this piece. The dance was performed at the faculty dance concert in 2021 and at the FETNA convention in 2022. Music and costumes were specially composed and designed in India for this composition.
