Dancers

Lavanya Govindarajan

Lavanya Govindarajan found her calling for the classical arts at the young age of six. She has been learning Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocal music with a passion for over two decades. Lavanya currently learns from Guru Preethi Menon (Kalakshetra and Koothambalam). Some of her dance ballets in India include Akka, Navagraha, and Winter of Spring. In the US, she has performed at the Hanuman, Ganesha, and the DFW Hindu Temples, Addison World Fest, and the St Louis Dance Festival. Lavanya also served as the Secretary of the Indian Fine Arts Academy of DFW(IFAADFW) and continues to be involved in the art scene as a performer and a teacher. Lavanya is an Indian Raga Ambassador for Bharatanatyam.

Prathiba Natesan

Dr. Prathiba Natesan is a three-time Indian national champion of Bharatanatyam and the founder/chairperson of Eyakkam Dance Company. She is also associate professor of statistics at the University of North Texas and a Tamizh enthusiast. Her current projects include: set free – a dance short-film, TEDtalk, and reviving forgotten padams. She studies closely under the tutelage of Guru Preethi Menon (Kalakshetra and Koothambalam). Prathiba is an Indian Raga Ambassador for Bharatanatyam.

Annapoorani Subramanian (Annam)

Annam grew up in Singapore and trained under the tutelage of Smt. Neila Sathyalingam, Apsaras Arts – Singapore. Some of her international performances include: Aalam at Krishna Gana Sabha (Chennai, Dec season), the golden temple in Vellore, the ASEAN Youth camp, Cambodia, and Seoul Spring Festival (Korea). She now teaches a select group of students in Plano, Texas. She continues her training under Guru Preethi Menon (Kalakshetra and Koothambalam). Annam is an Indian Raga Ambassador for Bharatanatyam.

Renuka Rajagopalan

Renuka Rajagopalan manifested her innate talent for dance at a very young age of 4. She is trained in Kalakshetra bani from her former guru Ramya Sundaram in Chennai, India. After moving to US, while completing her Masters degree, she was trained under the tutelage of Hema Rajagopalan (Artistic Director of Natya Dance Theatre) for a few years. She has performed widely in Chennai, Mumbai, Chicago, IL and Dallas, TX. She currently lives in Plano, TX and dedicates her time towards learning from her Guru Preethi Menon and teaching select students in Plano, TX area.
